Product Details

Original Item: One-of-a-kind. Here we have a very cute small pot from the Victorian Era, used onboard ships of the Royal Navy to Warm the brandy that the officers drank. The side of the pot opposite the handle bears this inscription under a naval "fouled anchor":

Fill what ye will
But drink what ye fill

The warmers "pot" is about ;3 inches wide, and 2 1/2 inches tall, with a 7 1/2 inch iron and wood handle. The wooden portion is about 3 1/4 inches long, and is marked J. JONES on the top, most likely the name of the owner.

The side of the warmer is marked:

GRIFFITHS
(Crown)
PATENT

Research has indicated that this is a Victorian Era brandy warmer, and this same marking has been seen on similar design copper pint pots from the later Victorian Era.

Condition is very good, with the expected dents and dings from long service, storage, and age. The tin plating on the inside of the pot and lid is fully intact, used to prevent the contents from picking up a copper taste.

A very interesting piece of British Naval history, ready to display!
